Deirdre Hofer When it rains outside, it also rains inside The raincloud is an exploration of the way weather is constructed. How are the clouds formed? How much do they weigh? What suspends them in the air? How do they rain? Weather is reimagined as a big immersive show with a constructed set, and everyone on Earth as the participating audience. My raincloud is made of concrete and spray paint, and is suspended from chains. The rain, is made of rain. In constructing the ethereal phenomena of weather using permanent and heavy materials, and channeling the fluidity of rain, this installation brings together real and fake weather to create a stage set, and bring the weather where we want it. So, when it is raining outside, it is raining under the cloud.
